Helen Barnes

Functional Consultant (APAC)

Bio

I have a wealth of Payroll experience gained from a combined 33 years working at Adelaide University (2000-2010) and at Flinders University (1985 -1997 and 2010 – 2021). Over my career, I have developed a wide range of skills but believe that my key attributes are the following:

I have experience in successfully managing, coaching and leading a Payroll Services team. The rapport and respect that I enjoyed with my team and colleagues attests to my strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Notwithstanding the many challenges I faced on a day-to-day basis, I always remained strongly customer centric. My priority was to deliver a high standard of customer service ensuring that all employees were paid accurately and on time, and that the University’s Payroll obligations were upheld.

I have exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, an essential component in any payroll position. I pride myself in being able to view and analyse HR and payroll-related issues from a logical and systematic perspective and to facilitate workable solutions in a timely manner. I am able to confidently interpret and provide workable solutions in relation to many issues and do not hesitate to question documentation and data for accuracy and reasonableness where necessary. In my role as Payroll Manager, Payroll and Benefits Services I ensured that my team also possessed this quality which I believe was demonstrated through a high level of accuracy of payroll delivery.
